Text:

The foundation of your claim was but a golden Conquest Card.

You told the people the Sultan granted you the right to conquer, yet set no bounds upon its use. Thus, your usurpation, your victory, your seizure of his throne, all could be framed as his tacit blessing. This sophistry swayed few... but your armies and the blood on your hands sufficed. The crowd parted in silence, letting you ascend the throne upon a path of crimson.

The scribes named you usurper. You slew a few, yet their successors came to court with coffins at the ready, refusing to rewrite history as you wished.

The nobles conspired to thwart you will.If you ruled as the old Sultan did, they scorned you. If you dared change, they praised the past.

The masses obeyed half-heartedly, for a rootless Sultan seemed doomed to fall. To heed your reforms was to waste breath...

It wearied you, or worse, made you wonder if you differed at all from the Sultan you'd overthrown.

So when the dagger found your heart in your second year, you felt but relief. As your vision dimmed, you saw them: friends rushing forward, enemies standing cold, lovers weeping in terror...

This was conqueror's end. You had achieved greatness, and greatness demands a fall.
