You took the throne as the new Sultan.



Ruling beside you in the Lapis Lazuli Palace stood your wife, your partner in battle, your Vizier - Maggie.



Together you brought winds of change: you reclaimed the nobles' military powers while granting commoners freedom of migration. Maggie devoted herself to rewriting inheritance laws, demanding daughters inherit titles equal to sons.



Your reforms won supporters, yet they hungered for more. The people who raised you to Sultan demanded richer rewards! The nobles hated you, convinced you sought to strip them of gold, tradition, dignity, honor and all.



Soon discontented masses converged on the capital, goaded by anxious nobles and bureaucrats who whispered that petitions could reshape the realm. Their demands were legion: some wanted three hundred sheep, others six wives, or women barred from work, or the old Sultan's games revived...The swelling crowds overwhelmed you. The capital's order crumbled. Vagrants everywhere, brawls in every square, food shortages and filth piling high. Noble conspirators moved through the throngs, whispering, cursing, lining pockets with silver...



At last they charged, screaming incoherent slogans. They stormed the barracks, dragging and killing royal guards, hanging countless charred corpses on the trees. They breached the palace gates. Your guards fought desperately as you commanded them from the golden throne, until rebels hauled a massive log to batter the Lapis Lazuli Palace's side gate! The timber slid across polished floors with terrible force, toppling the throne itself and pinning you beneath its weight.



Lamps overturned, flames licking at gilded arches. Windows shattered, glass glittering like crystal. Your fading reflection danced across broken mirrors as the light left your eyes...
