Text:
You ascended the throne as the new Sultan.
You brought winds of change: you reclaimed the nobles' military powers while granting commoners freedom of migration. Maggie devoted herself to rewriting inheritance laws, demanding daughters inherit titles equal to sons.
But your reforms wounded noble interests and they hated you for it. Yet your supporters still cried for more, always more!
Soon discontented masses converged on the capital, goaded by whispers that petitions could reshape the realm. Deliberate agitation fanned this assembly into terrible riot. Noble conspirators moved through the throngs, whispering, cursing, lining pockets with silve...
At last they charged, screaming incoherent slogans. They stormed the barracks, dragging and killing royal guards, hanging countless charred corpses on the trees. They breached the palace gates. Your guards fought desperately as you commanded them from the golden throne, until rebels hauled a massive log to batter the Lapis Lazuli Palace's side gate! The timber slid across polished floors with terrible force, toppling the throne itself and pinning you beneath its weight.
Darkness swallowed your vision. Agony stole your voice, leaving you couldn't even scream. Then a palace slavegirl spotted you, shrieking: "The Sultan! Save the Sultan! Save [player.name]!"
For one frozen moment, the chaos stilled. The mob didn't understand, but all who knew you: all nobles and commoners, handmaids and eunuchs, masters and beggars, they remembered what manner of man you were. They rushed the golden throne.
They twisted garments into ropes, lashing the heavy throne. Men pulled while women lifted, all shouting in unison, until the throne shifted just enough for countless hands to drag you free. Then came Maggie, wild-haired and shrieking curses at the culprits. None had ever seen her so fierce! Physicians bound your broken ribs. Opium smoke filled your lungs, carrying the pain away...
When you woke, the palace's shattered floors remained unrepaired, but the fever had left your people's eyes.
