Text:
You ascended the Golden Throne, and Riel became the Vizier.
At her first court gathering, Riel stood bewildered. Well-dressed courtiers bowed and offered greetings which only deepened her confusion. But what truly galled her were their honeyed words:
"Your eyes shine like twin moons."
"The hue of your skin is most... refined."
"Your attire today is... ah... remarkable."
Riel's fury mounted until she seized the nearest noble by his embroidered collar. "Moon? What moon?" she demanded. "I've seen the moon, it looks nothing like my damn eyes!" The man stammered, eyes darting everywhere but her face.
Then she understood. Ah, these soft city-dwellers feared to look at her! They flinched from her warrior's muscles, recoiled from the bloodstink still clinging to her, refused to remember how this woman - this slave, this outsider - had led a bandit horde to seat a Sultan on his throne. To them, she might as well have been some demon from beyond the stars.
With a snort, Riel released the trembling noble and turned to you.
"Now I see why you made me Vizier, [player.name]."
Thus began your remaking of the realm from its foundations. You broke the noble's power, shattered the slave chains, decreed all would rise by wit and worth alone. First in the armies, then the bureaucracies, finally the very nobility. Riel stood unwavering at your side, clearing obstacles with threats, terror, and when needed, her own scarred fists. She rounded up the capital's worst cutthroats, beat them senseless one by one, then forged them into her personal guard. Your opponents called them a band of demons who knew only one rule: "[player.name]'s enemies must die."
News of Riel's appointment spread like wildfire through the hinterlands. Her tribal kin came, and the mountain folk, the steppe riders, the coastal fishmen. All who'd been chained as slaves now heard the new Sultan called them the People.
Not monsters, not slaves, not chattel nor commodities, but people - whole, independent, and no different from any other in this realm.
That was a worthy miracle.
