Text:

You claimed the Golden Throne, becoming the realm's new Sultan. You raised your allies, cast down your foes, and named Riel the savage as your Vizier. You fought to steer this broken land toward dawn... but can a single hand truly right a capsizing ship?

Your decrees met silent resistance at every turn. Even those who once cheered you now muttered in doubt. You ordered lands measured and divided equally, so the slothful reaped as much as the laboring woman. Was this justice? You demanded all earn their bread by toil, so the sick and pregnant withered in gutters. Was this mercy? You declared slaves equal to masters, stripped nobles of privilege, but who stood with you? Slaves whose eyes and ears had been sealed by their masters? Oh, your supporters packed the court halls. But in the fields, the alleys, the taverns... your name soured on every tongue. Riel fought for you with tooth and claw. Her bandit horde prowled the capital's underbelly, carving loyalty through fear. But they were too few, and the empire too vast...

So you ran. Chased from crisis to crisis, forever stamping out revolts that sprouted like leeches on your skin. The moment you paused, another rebellion's jaws snapped at your heels.

You dared not linger in your own palace. To sit still meant letting guilt gnaw your bones. Though no amount of sweat could straighten this crooked realm, you kept fleeing forward on some self-made exile of atonement...

Perhaps only death will finally let your flesh catch up to your weary soul.
