Humans are Terrifying
Jawad, [xiaochou.name] and you met in the study. As you entered, [xiaochou.name] was admiring a gang war in the mirror—coins and blood flying, thugs hacking, taunting, brawling... all reflected in the dead man's pupils. Swirling a goblet, flaunting its uncanny power, [xiaochou.name] sneered, "Are we here to discuss the evils of human? Tell me something new—what crimes won’t they commit for a few shiny trinkets?"

So, at your urging, Jawad began explaining to [xiaochou.name] the horrors of "head-chopping loans," the arithmetic of compound interest, shadow contracts, interest-first repayments, hidden fees... The more he spoke, the more fervent he grew, unraveling the tricks of debt slavery, apprentice traps, pawnshop appraisals...

[xiaochou.name] tried to capture these atrocities in the mirror, to witness them firsthand—but it only saw a city... a realm... its teeming masses... until the glass shattered, and the Mirror stormed off in fury.

The Power to Price
Nayla arrived at your manor in high spirits, radiant for the feast. But when she saw the guests were only you, her, and [xiaochou.name], her displeasure was plain. "I expected [player.name]'s banquet to be livelier. I went to such lengths—my makeup, my jewels, all this preparation..." She sighed as she sat, then turned her gaze to [xiaochou.name]. "I’d heard of you, [xiaochou.name]. They said you were a dear friend of [player.name]..." [xiaochou.name] offered a half-hearted bow, then cut straight to the point. "What did you think of gold coins?" “Gold coin? Oh, wasn’t it the finest thing in the world? The finest—the very finest! If every soul had had a price in gold, the world would have run so smoothly. A woman worth a thousand gold coins could have flayed one worth nine hundred and ninety-nine, and there’d have been no quarrels at all, don’t you think?" She beamed at you, then at [xiaochou.name], as if seeking agreement. You bit your tongue, resisting the urge to ask what would have happened when a woman worth a thousand and one gold coins appeared... Still, her answer seemed to have pleased [xiaochou.name] well enough.

The Price of Virtue
Amur accompanied you to meet [xiaochou.name] with marked reluctance. At first, he bristled at your lofty sermons—after all, you knew his true nature better than any. Yet [xiaochou.name] employed certain arts, clouding his gaze until raw truths spilled forth: “’Not coin or pricing that matters, but what we deem worthy of trade. When gold coin buys only bread and cloaks, it remains a useless trinket. But let it grow—luxuries, laws, privileges, titles, offices… Soon you’ll find the beast beyond your leash." He gulped more wine, grievances flowing like a swollen river, railing against everything—as if he himself had not bartered it all away.

Still, his answer appeared to please [xiaochou.name] well enough.

Coins Have no Names
Alim wandered the market with you, utterly unfazed by [xiaochou.name]’s presence, casually mocking the passing merchants and nobles—especially when he pocketed a few purses along the way.

“So, what’s the difference between you and them? The same greed, the same ruthlessness… Aren’t you all just coin-driven scoundrels?” [xiaochou.name] suddenly asked. “Ha! You’ve got it right there! That’s the beauty of it!” Alim pulled out a gleaming gold coin. “The nobles invented ten thousand rules—this cloth for commoners, that jewel for nobles, who may ride, who may dwell in mansions, who may earn the god’ favor… Oh god! Thank the god they forgot to put names on coin! Only gold coin—whoever holds it, owns it. Now that’s the fairest, kindest thing in the world, isn’t it?”

Though it was twisted logic, it did give [xiaochou.name] pause.

Structural Design
Who truly decides what makes a human evil? You are no god, nor ruler—what right have you to judge good from ill? So you picked a noble at random—someone like [s2.name]—and began explaining their privileges to [xiaochou.name].

Because the production and trade of life’s necessities are monopolized by the nobility, the wealth of the common folk—be it coin, labor, flesh, or the futures of their children—is doomed to flow upward. And the high nobles need only tweak a few numbers to decide the fates of thousands. This is the very foundation of human society, and coin? Merely the blood that courses through its veins.

Your answer left [xiaochou.name] with much to ponder. After all, a mirror seldom sees the world from such a height.

Extra

From Empty to Full
A strange thing happened in your manor—all the mirrors ceased to reflect. Servants brought the mirrors to you, their surfaces coated in a peculiar gray-green grime. You scraped off a bit and held it to your nose. A rich, overpowering fragrance shot straight to your skull. Though no expert on spices, you were a noble who had tasted and seen many rare delicacies—so you knew at once that this "grime" might be worth a fortune. And, most likely, it came from [xiaochou.name]. That’s its way of expressing satisfaction with the meeting you had arranged. Soon after, a bewildered spice merchant from the market was brought before you. The moment he stepped into your chamber, his nose twitched. Then, after tasting the powder you’d scraped into a small dish, his eyes bulged nearly out of his head. "Cloves… vanilla… cinnamon… Oh, by the god! Name your price—how much more do you have?!" You showed him all the mirrors. On his knees, he painstakingly cleaned each one with a handkerchief, leaving you a hefty bag of gold. And then—he spread the tale far and wide in the market, burnishing your already somewhat mysterious reputation even further.
