Extra

You decided to use a Bloodshed Card
You present a card etched with sacrifice. The Sultan nods, intrigued. He permits you a duel in his court. A young man, bewildered, takes the dagger from a servant’s hands. He has no time to understand. You drive the blade into his heart. The blood of this nameless youth flows over gold and marble. The Sultan laughs, delighted, as though he has witnessed the most amusing thing in the world.

You decide to use the Carnality Card
You present a card depicting lovers. The Sultan smiles. He allows you to openly take pleasure in his court.

The young man does not yet understand. You press him to the ground. Laughter drowns out his struggles. His dignity peels away beneath hungry gazes. Only the trembling remains, as he endures the unsought for onslaught.

The Sultan laughs, delighted, as though he has witnessed the most amusing thing in the world. Then, descending from his golden dais, he takes the young man’s chin between his fingers and commands him to speak his name.

Between shuddering breaths and broken moans, comes a name. A family name once spoken with pride and love. A name, now, too shameful to bear.

"Fardak, is it..." The Sultan straightens, satisfied. He looks down at him, his tone inscrutable, "I grant you a reprieve. Your tribute may wait until autumn. But until then – you will remain in the capital."

The young man closes his eyes in shame. It is not over yet. He bows, low and deep. With a heart heavy with fear for the future, he whispers words of gratitude.

You decide to use the Extravagance Card
You present a card depicting charity. The Sultan narrows his eyes. "A dull choice," he remarks, displeased. Then, after a pause, he smiles.

"Very well," he says, "he may delay his tribute until autumn. But the son of a governor cannot sleep in an inn like a common traveler, can he? I expect you to build him a palace. One worthy of his station. If you fail…"

His voice trails off, leaving a void: a deep, hungry abyss, brimming with malice.

You decide to use the Conquest Card
You present a card depicting kingship. The Sultan smiles at you knowingly, satisfied. His soldiers long to drink the blood of the weak.

The young man waits in the cold palace halls, restless, helpless. Then – news arrives. His homeland, where the tribute has run dry. The governor, who has failed at his duties. All crushed beneath iron hooves. The Sultan is never merciful.

The palace echoes with the Sultan's laughter as the young man inherits his father's title and a debt too vast to pay. The next morning, you hear that he slit his throat, standing by a frost-bitten window in the stage station.
