Wedding Song

The wedding of Adila and Jabal is set with unexpected haste. Their noble families find the timing precipitous, yet the couple stands firm in their decision. They desire no grand celebration, inviting only you – their true friend and the one who brought them together.

Extra

You attended the wedding as an invited guest
The bride and groom walk in together, their stiff posture revealing their discomfort. During the ceremony, Jabal's relatives recite a few love poems they themselves don't believe in, the atmosphere grows unbearably stiff.

Still, you give them your warmest smile and heartfelt wishes. This union between kindred spirits may have nothing to do with love, but who can say this isn't a more precious kind of happiness?
Then, Adila's kin arrived.
Her grandmother appears in ancient silver armor, leaning on a cane while gripping a sword. Her mother wears silver chainmail, one hand steadying her mother, the other firmly holding an oak shield. Her aunts, grandaunts, and even the household's old maids – all stand adorned in warrior's gear, slowly approaching together.

Adila freezes in place, and her husband is equally stunned.

"Mother, Grandmother, these outfits... weren't you always against women wielding swords?"

At her grandmother's stern strike of sword against the floor, Adila's kin raise their voices as one, launching into an ancient ballad:
"Two battlegrounds I bear, two battlegrounds I see,

One where I face the dragon, one where mother I'll be.

I could slay the beast with blade in hand,

Or birth a daughter who'll make her final stand.

Soft are my hands, and weak my knees,

My daughter, fierce and strong with warrior's ease.

Her shield rises high, her eyes shine bright,

Ready to win where I lost the fight.

Two battlegrounds I bear, two battlegrounds I see,

I strike, I fight, I break free...

At last I've slain the dragon's might.

That dared to chain my soul so tight!"

Surrounded by women, in the unending song of battle, Adila can't help but cry... while Jabal – her husband – grips her hand tightly.
