Frontispiece
You insist that Asal paint portraits of you and Maggie on the Encyclopedia's cover. He refuses outright, and a heated debate ensues. In the end, you both yield a little. "Since you've truly helped me witness so many rare and fascinating things, I shall at least mention you and your beloved wife in the acknowledgments on the frontispiece."

Next Time, Perhaps
You insist that Asal paint portraits of you and Maggie on the Encyclopedia's cover. He dodges, refuses, and eventually, the matter stalls. Hmph. You are not the type to surrender so easily.

Dragons Do Exist
Asal cradles the dragon's eye with trembling hands, yet quickly averts his gaze. "Oh... I've only read about it in a few fragmented records from ancient times... They say one must never stare into a dragon's eye, lest the soul be drawn in!"

Across a silk cloth, he measures its weight, feels its warmth, and quizzes you on every detail of its battle. He records everything meticulously, then sighs. "A pity the dragon escaped... But perhaps that is a blessing. Future witnesses may see it for themselves, and this entry retains its worth, right?"

He bows deeply, offering a long string of ornate metaphors to express his sincere gratitude.

A Game Fit for the Sultan
You suddenly flash the Sultan Card, and Asal jumps in genuine surprise. You quickly assure him you mean no harm—you're not here to embarrass him or set his shop ablaze. You only want him to see whether this item deserves a place in the Encyclopedia.

He adjusts his glasses, studying the card carefully.

"I feel a peculiar magic in it, yet its power does not come from mere sorcery... The rules of this game are what merit recording." He ponders, sorts his thoughts, and finally shakes his head with a wry smile. "Whether the world should ever know this game... I cannot say. I am but a chronicler. And you, having lived it—what do you think?"

You answer only with a silence thick with meaning.

All Things Shall Pass
You carefully bolt every door and window, making sure no other living soul lurks nearby. Only then do you draw from your pocket the magical ring stolen from the Sultan. "I doubt you've ever seen anything like this," you remark.

Asal, of course, hasn't. He has never had the chance to meet the Sultan in person. He listens intently as you recount the ring's powers, its origin, and its history, studying its size and the intricate inscriptions inside. He records every detail—even your ambitions.

In a Dream
You describe to Asal the divine visage you once witnessed, speaking of the gods' grandeur and their terrifying presence. Your words ring so true that he can no longer dismiss you as a mere charlatan. Yet he steadfastly refuses to record the entry. Because the Encyclopedia tradition demands that only what is seen with one's own eyes may be written. Frustrated, you leave. That night, Asal appears in your dream garden...

By morning, he comes to you with the wet, inked pages. At the end, he writes: "Mortals cannot behold the true visage of the gods, for all live within the gods' slumbering dream."

Tales of the Ancient Mirror
Asal refuses to believe that the living form before him is indeed a mirror—until [xiaochou.name] melts into a shimmering pool of liquid, twisting and reshaping itself into countless dazzling faces and forms. Asal covers his eyes and shouts for [xiaochou.gender] to stop, and only then does [xiaochou.gender] relent, letting out a mischievous laugh at the chaos it has wrought. To witness such an ancient, primordial entity is a rare gift indeed. Asal soon recovers from his shock, bombarding [xiaochou.name] with questions, tracing the tangled mysteries of ages past. [xiaochou.name] answers them all, yet truth and falsehood blur together. Even as mere stories, they thrill and enthrall. The afternoon drifts away in the study. You can see [xiaochou.name] is enjoying himself as well—so much so that [xiaochou.gender] even offers to reveal his true form, granting Asal a rare, unguarded chance to observe.

Not Quite a Cat
Asal refuses to believe that the cat in front of him is the "mirror" you're talking about. The cat, seemingly amused, pretends not to understand a word you're saying. It keeps meowing and pawing at everything in sight—scratching this, knocking over that—completely making a fool out of you and Asal!

By the day's end, utterly exhausted, Asal clutches his manuscripts, wiping sweat from his brow, and implores you never to bring that cat into his study again. He peers at you with a touch of sympathy... The cat truly is a mirror in disguise! Why won't he believe it?

Conditions:

What Men Really Want
You rehearse Mahir's sales pitch with fervor, demonstrating it to Asal once more. He fiddles with its connections, studies its inner mechanisms and the flow of Aether. Even though its design is far from elegant, he cannot help but marvel at its ingenuity and whimsical brilliance. Reluctantly, he admits it represents the pinnacle of human engineering.

Haha! Now that's more like it! You ask if he wants to try it out—after all, an entry in the Encyclopedia demands firsthand experience! He waves you off, insisting that mere observation suffices, and that dismantling the original parts is absolutely out of the question. Men... always so unwilling to dedicate themselves fully to science.

It's Different
You present a piece of blue silk to Asal, but he shrugs. "I've seen many such fabrics."

"It's different," you insist, explaining its significance. This color is a symbol of defiance, a force unseen in history: one person alone may be weak, but thousands united can shake the world.

Asal frowns hard in prolonged pondering, as if in an obsessed trance. You impatiently wave a hand before his eyes and pat on his face forcibly. He comes to with a muffled "ah", and then agrees to catalogue this unremarkable piece of blue silk in the Encyclopedia. Fortunately, you won't have to convince him any more.

Nothing Different
You present a length of blue silk to Asal, but he barely raises an eyebrow. "I've seen many fabrics like this."

He flips through the Encyclopedia's entries on textiles, listing dozens of exquisite materials you've never seen or heard of... Well, convincing Asal that this blue silk is anything extraordinary seems hopeless for now.

Always a Cat Person
Cats are common enough, but Lady Becky is exceptional! She carries a noble title, comes and goes freely in the court, attends meetings in your stead, swats at little crocodiles, kicks at grand lions. She has protected you and comforted you. She is, without question, the most remarkable and adorable kitten in the world!

Asal has had quite enough of you, yet faced with the little creature sharpening her claws on his manuscripts, he yields. Once he agrees to include Lady Becky in his writings, you leave the study, cradling the kitten with satisfaction.

Special Recommendation
"This is truly an extraordinary book, especially the final chapter... who could have imagined tending to a demon's wounds?" Asal exclaims. "Allow me to read it a bit longer. Later, I shall reserve a few pages in the Encyclopedia to offer it a proper commendation."

You nod your agreement.

Too Common to Include
"This is certainly an impressive book," Asal admits as he flips through it, spreading his hands in a faint shrug. "But it won't do... Many of the herbs and remedies in here are already cataloged in the Encyclopedia. And... do you not find it odd for one book's entry to include another book?"

Alright... you can only leave with a sigh of regret.

It's the One!
The instant you present the object, Asal's eyes brighten. He grabs the strange ornament, handling its feathers with a delicate reverence, murmuring to himself. Startled by his intensity, you watch until he finally calms down and explains: "When I was young, I once encountered a tribe that... well, they had a taste for human livers. I nearly became a meal for their chief!"

You can't tell what he finds impressive.

"The chief wore an ornament just like this. I told her that, should I die, my final wish would be to touch it... and then... well, I was knocked unconscious and left in the wilderness. I never found that tribe again. Such kind-hearted girls! They not only bandaged my wounds but left water and food for me."

You stay silent, withholding judgment on the story.

Even the rare white rhinoceros earns Asal's refusal—its rarity or any personal connection you might claim isn't enough to justify an entry in the Encyclopedia.
