First Taste of Divine Power

You are not yet a god. To work a miracle, you need magic. And the strongest magic in this city flows from the Sultan Cards in your hand. From the game itself, decreed by that mortal king.

Drawing Power from the Sultan Card
The god's attendant is chosen. Now you turn to the question: what kind of "divine power" will you show?

You've convinced Malkina to stage the revelation at dusk across the river, where boatmen and dockworkers gather on the banks. You and your attendant will appear together and perform a miracle. If Malkina can truly shape "what a god should look like," if the miracle is wondrous enough... they might just believe you're a new god.

Of course, it all comes down to one thing: finding the right power. The kind of magic that different Sultan Cards cast on the hearts of those who see them.
All Life Is Suffering
The Extravagance Card... but a god draped in gold? Too vulgar. This city is already crawling with nobles wrapped in the stuff. The slaves here have seen it all. They won't be fooled so easily.

Then it hits you. Extravagance isn't just glittering lords. It's the freezing, starving poor. People might be tired of gilded deity statues. But a god who suffers? That they would yearn for.

Malkina grasps it at once. She promises the finest ascetic's rags for you and your attendant. And she'll "try not to make it too painful."

You almost can't wait.

Conditions:

A God Among Us
You appear, sudden as a thought. A girl prying shellfish from its shell looks up and spots you. She lifts her hand and points, and soon every eye is on you. Your attendant chooses that moment to tip the bucket.

Gasps rise from the crowd. Every eye fixed on the "blood" seeping from the ground at your feet, spreading until a wide stretch of the river runs red. You stand perfectly still, your gaze mournful, fixed on the people across the shore.

This silent play is exactly the god they've been waiting for. A god who suffers, because they suffer. A god who endures, because they endure. A god who rages, because they rage, though they dare not speak it. Until now, they see a gaunt, tormented divinity, raging for them.

You feel their grief. You raise your hand, pointing to the setting sun. Its crimson light drips down like blood, washing away the painted stains, dyeing the whole river red.

All of them fall to their knees. Some throw themselves into the water, struggling toward your feet. For weeks after, these people will show the crowds the bloodstains on their skin, marks that never wash away. And all will see them as a blessing from the divine.

Malkina shaped the god's appearance. But the god's soul? That was woven by those who witnessed.

展示真正的非人力量
You breathe deep. Close your eyes. Let everything collapse inward, into your awareness. There, the Conquest Card shapes itself into a crown. It tempts you, reminding you of all you could achieve.

Yes. You had the power all along.

Your foot already rests on that faint line between mortal and divine.

Is this moment truly just a whim of Malkina's? Or could it be that your own power—so rich it overflows—has seeped into her, stirring something deep, making her reach, without knowing why, to carve out a chance for you...?

In the darkness, you smile. Then you gather your will and shape a ball of brilliant light, storing it in the place where your heart beats.

You open your eyes and tell Malkina you're ready. "This miracle will be a new sun."

She startles, then steadies soon.

"I'll prepare the perfect look for you. Something fit for the sun."

Measuring tape, makeup box, cloth in hand, she throws herself at you.

A God Among Us
The moment the blazing sun rises from your chest, every last one of them drops to their knees. The haulers, the boatwomen, the porters—all of them. People weep, pressing their foreheads to the ground.

The sun climbs higher, setting you ablaze with light. Your form, artfully fragmented, shimmers and sways within the golden glow. Countless shards of glass catch the rays, reflecting the sunlight, until you blaze like the sky itself. Beside you, your attendant, robed in equal glory, chants, sings, and praises. A sight like this... once seen, one will never forget.

Malkina has done it. Not a single soul among them thinks you are merely a mortal, finely dressed. She has shaped, with her own hands, what a god should look like.

She has proven she can sculpt divinity itself. Though she admits, quietly: if the one being sculpted were not you, it might not have gone so smoothly.

When the revelation ends, Malkina sweeps a black cloth through the air. You slip behind it in an instant. The light dims, and night falls. The crowd stands frozen, mouths agape.

In the days that follow, the tale spreads: a god descended at dusk. And they say that god looked a bit like [player.name].

Valor and Miracles
The Bloodshed Card calls to you. This mortal world—saturated with violence, rage, death—calls to you. Yes, slaughtering mortals would be a kind of divine power. But in a city drowning in blood and brutality, that won't make you stand out.

"Let's stage a miracle," you tell Malkina. "A battle against a monster. People remember the valiant hero, yes, but they remember the formidable enemy more."

Malkina understands at once. She grabs her cosmetics, sends word: find the biggest stray dogs they can. She'll dress you up. And then, before the crowd, you'll give them a show, a fight worth remembering.

A God Among Us
Between your menacing glare and the dogs going feral over their chicken treats, the act is incredibly convincing. Throw in your attendant's wild antics and Malkina's magic, and you've managed to make the absurd look authentic. That's the core of divinity: doing the ridiculous with total conviction.

The crowd is absolutely spellbound. At first, they're scared the "beast" will swallow you whole, but then they take one look at your snakes and your gear and realize you're the one in charge.

The show was supposed to end with the dogs retreating into Malkina's smoke, but the crowd's fear has taken on a life of its own. They aren't just watching a show anymore. They're waiting for a god to save them.

The long shadows of the sunset blend the dogs into a single, terrifying beast with heads to spare. It lets out a roar, clears the stage, and comes for you with a mouth as red as the evening sky.

In the local folklore, it's now a fact that a god like [player.name] saved the city and its river from a great evil. It took a lot of bandages to fix the "phantom" bruises you walked away with, but the dogs certainly didn't mind the act—they were paid handsomely in chicken.

The Great Desires
You look at the Carnality Card in your hand, a tether to the restless sea of human desire. Lust, appetite, the need for attention, the drive to survive... how do you spark that one craving shared by everyone?

As you watch these tangled whims rise and fall, it suddenly makes sense. Everyone just wants to outshine their neighbor. But the millions left behind? All they want is a level playing field.

Malkina's hands are a blur while you're lost in thought. She's already dolling you up, making sure you look like the brilliant, kind god you are.

Malkina gives it everything she has.

She robes you in a white cope so pure it covers every inch of skin. Then drapes you in silver chains, like a sacred sinner. She sweeps your hair back, baring your face, and paints you pale as bone.

"You need to look like them," she says, working swiftly on your face. "The suffering ones. The poor. So they'll believe you've come to save them. But keep your eyes closed. Always closed. It makes you look more pained. More holy."

She traces silver and diamond patterns across your eyelids, then brushes more silver dust into the shape of tears. After that, she adorns your followers in the same way.

For the final touch, she gives you some herbs to make your voice raw and raspy.

Dusk settles. The river flows. On the far bank, haulers lean against their boats, chatting. A good day for a god to appear.

You breathe deep. Step from the trees.

Conditions:

A God Among Us
You begin to speak, your voice low, raw, rasping. At first, they think you're just a madman, babbling. But soon your words carry farther, farther still, reaching even the far shore of the river. One by one, they set down their work and listen, drawn in by what you say.

You tell them: every soul is born in mercy of the divine. And you are living proof, for you have touched each one. Then you speak of the worst among them: those who steal the joy from other souls, hoarding it with dark magic, with lies and concealment. This you cannot bear. How you wish every being you ever touched could know equal happiness... and so the tears burn down your face. And so you have come. To tell them: do not give up. Do not despair. You were meant for joy. Look to the root of your sorrow. Do not fear, a god stands behind you. All of this is permitted.

The haulers, the boatwomen, the porters all stand frozen, staring. Your sacred robes. Your eyes, clenched in pain. That noble, solemn face Malkina painted. The attendant, kneeling in devotion behind you. But most of all: your words. Even Malkina admits: she can shape a god's appearance, but she cannot forge words that pierce the heart like this.

They fall to their knees on the riverbank. All of them. And they weep—with joy, with grief, with sudden understanding, with hatred long suppressed. Not a single soul among them thinks you are merely a mortal, finely dressed. Malkina has done it. She has shaped, with her own hands, what a god should look like.

In the days that follow, the tale spreads: a god descended at dusk. And people say: so that's what a god looks like... a bit like [player.name], they say.
